BY DONALYN GUERRERO

Two women were killed, another was in serious condition while four others were injured when a top-down tricycle collided with a Mitsubishi Pajero in Purok Rabadilla, Brgy. Mandalagan in Bacolod City at about 8:45 p.m. yesterday.

Dead on arrival at the Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital were tricycle passengers Mary Jane Batanao, 41, and Julyn Eureceal, 30, both residents of Purok Kaburihan, Brgy. Mandalagan. Another passenger, Shirley Solitario, 50, was in serious condition up to press time last night.

Those injured were identified as Julyn's husband, Ernesto Eureceal Jr., 32, tricycle driver Rey Jay Batanao, 21, and his younger brother Raymond, 14, and Pajero driver Norberto Capay, of Calachuchi, Capitolville Subdivision, Bacolod City, police reports said.

Initial reports said the Pajero with Plate Number UEY 242 was travelling from north to south when it reportedly overtook a truck, which resulted in the head-on collision with the tricycle, Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod reported.

Reports also said the impact of the collision cause the separation of the motorcycle from its sidecar, causing Mary Jane and Julyn to fall into a nearby canal.*DMG
