PSDO official pushes
for 2 more disciplines
TO BE PRIORITIZED IN GRASSROOTS PROGRAM

The Negros Occidental Provincial Sports and Development Office will propose the inclusion of two more disciplines in this year's provincial mass-based sports program.

Manuel De Oro, officer-in-charge of the PSDO, said he will propose to Gov. Joseph Maraņon that table tennis and taekwondo events will be included in the grassroots project when the Provincial Government officials meet on Jan. 14 at the Mambukal Resort in Murica.

Individual events are being prioritized rather than team disciplines because they are easier to organize and most municipalities and cities already have athletes for individual sports, he added.

4 teams confirm
entry in NBA tilt

Four squads will see action in the Negros Basketball Association-Mayor's Cup basketball tournament set this month at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

NBA president Oscar "Dodong" Bascon said the tournament is set on or before Jan. 20 to be in line with the Bacolod City fiesta which is Jan. 20.

This tournament will be a battle of the champions, Bascon added.

The men and women's Australian Sports Ambassadors basketball squads trounced their different opponents at the Talisay City Gymnasium yesterday to continue their domination in their goodwill games campaign in Negros Occidental.

The ASA lady dribblers trounced the Talisay City women's selection, 80-44, to extend their winning streak after five games, while the male Aussies routed the men's team of the Talisay City selection, 110-90, for an impressive 9-0 win-loss card.

Swingman Paul Beacham waxed hot for 38 points to lead the ASA men's team that established a comfortable 57-39 advantage at halftime.
