Stolen bridge recovered
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An improvised steel bridge weighing about 500 kilos in Hacienda Teresa, Brgy. Alicante, E.B. Magalona, that had been stolen by three persons, was recovered by hacienda watchmen on Sunday night.

The three suspects managed to elude arrest, but tricycle driver Reynaldo Aurelio who was allegedly threatened with bodily harm if he would not cooperate with the robbers, was apprehended, E.B. Magalona police chief Santiago Rapiz said yesterday.

The improvised bridge is estimated to cost at P6,000. It was loaded in the tricycle driven by Aurelio, which was also intercepted in Hacieda Teresa, and was endorsed by hacienda overseer Severino Nuņez to the E.B. Magalona police.

Rapiz said he is withholding the identities of the three suspects who are reportedly armed with bladed weapons and a gun, until theft charges are filed against them in court.

He said they will use Aurelio as a state witness against the three suspects.

Last year, five persons and a policeman were also arrested and charged for their alleged attempt to cut a railroad bridge in a nearby hacienda.

Meanwhile, five persons participating in illegal cockfighting in the barangay were also arrested by the E.B. Magalona police.

Nabbed were Henry Lasreņa, tagged as the maintainer of illegal cockfighting, Charlie Delicana, Mario Dionson, Joebert Dalisay and Abner Guadalope.

Recovered by the police raiding team of E.B. Magalona were four fighting cocks and two gaffs, locally known as "bulang".

The five arrested persons are now detained at the E.B. Magalona Police Station Jail.*GPB
