An improvised steel bridge weighing about 500 kilos in Hacienda
Teresa, Brgy. Alicante, E.B. Magalona, that had been stolen by three
persons, was recovered by hacienda watchmen on Sunday night.
The three suspects managed to elude arrest, but tricycle
driver Reynaldo Aurelio who was allegedly threatened with bodily
harm if he would not cooperate with the robbers, was apprehended,
E.B. Magalona police chief Santiago Rapiz said yesterday.
The improvised bridge is estimated to cost at P6,000. It was
loaded in the tricycle driven by Aurelio, which was also intercepted
in Hacieda Teresa, and was endorsed by hacienda overseer Severino
Nuņez to the E.B. Magalona police.
Rapiz said he is withholding the identities of the three suspects
who are reportedly armed with bladed weapons and a gun, until theft
charges are filed against them in court.
He said they will use Aurelio as a state witness against the
three suspects.
Last year, five persons and a policeman were also arrested
and charged for their alleged attempt to cut a railroad bridge in
a nearby hacienda.
Meanwhile, five persons participating in illegal cockfighting
in the barangay were also arrested by the E.B. Magalona police.
Nabbed were Henry Lasreņa, tagged as the maintainer of illegal
cockfighting, Charlie Delicana, Mario Dionson, Joebert Dalisay and
Abner Guadalope.
Recovered by the police raiding team of E.B. Magalona were
four fighting cocks and two gaffs, locally known as "bulang".
The five arrested persons are now detained at the E.B. Magalona
Police Station Jail.*GPB
