A three-day retreat
It was challenging, spending three wonderful days with 34 individuals
at the Manresa Retreat House in Sum-ag, Bacolod City, last weekend.
I was just kidding Elda Mondia that I will join, but friends Carmina
Monfort and others encouraged me to try. Come Friday, Elda and hubby
Sam Mondia fetched me and I was amazed to see so many familiar faces
welcoming me with kisses and warm embraces like volunteers Delia
Tad-y, Carla and Teepee Lacson, the Tanpinco sisters -- Cora, Baba,
Bethiya - Tan Tan and Tita Mangue Coscolluela, Vicky Angudong and
many more.
My three days were full of fulfilling prayers, everyday Mass with
communion, Scriptural readings and meditations and lectures by different
lectors on different topics, explained in simple language.
I am now a full-fledged member of Cursillo 105.
The Cursillos for Christianity was founded Bishop Juan Hervas
in Mallorca, Spain who organized weekly Masses and lectures for
members of the Young Men's Catholic Action, later known as the Cursillos
for Christianity on Jan. 7, 1949, and introduced in the Philippines
a few years later. The first Cursillo for Men in Bacolod was in
1964 and founding Bishop Hervas visited Manresa in 1965.
In 1967, the Cursillo for Women was introduced in Bacolod City.
Maybe, the late Bishop Emeritus Antonio Y. Fortich is happy now
that I've been in Manresa of which was one of the pillars.
All service teams assigned to us were very attentive to our needs
from our rooms, kitchen and dining areas. Everyday we grew closer,
more tolerant and patient with one another.
To us, the three days are not enough, but we promise to study
and read the Bible, pray and meet once a month for our team reunion.
We had praise and worship with Janet Remitio at the piano, nothing
was dull and our three days retreat was very rewarding. Hopefully
we will continue to change for the better and always remember what
we learned.*
Remember: God is not a fault finder; He harbors no mean or vindictive
thoughts against us.*
