BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

Six squads are eyeing the crown of the 1st Pace Cup 2006 basketball tournament that kicked off at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Gym in Bacolod City yesterday.

Teams aiming for the championship of the event that is also known as the Capitol Employees Inter-Department Basketball Tournament are the General Services Office, EEDD, Assessors-Treasurer's Office, OPA-PEMO, Capitol Building Team Mix-Nuts and the Engineer's Office.

Games were supposed to fire off yesterday, but the schedule will be reset and finalized today because some teams are not yet prepared, organizers said.

Neil Mapa chairs the tournament committee, while Al Ceralbo acts as the vice-chairman. Also composing the tournament committee are Tess Sespeņe, Ed Vivas, Ruben Diamante, Gary Aledron and Lawrence Ledesma. *CIT
