BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

About 200 woodpushers have confirmed their entry in the 1st JRR Dizon Foundation Age-Group Chess Tournament from March 4 to 5 at the University of St. La Salle-Integrated School Covered Court in Bacolod City.

The competitors will be vying for titles in the elementary boys and girls', and secondary boys and girls' categories of the event that is sponsored by the JRR Dizon Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with the Raymundo R. Dizon Jr. Memorial Foundation and the Chess Players Federation of Negros.

Eleuterio Capistrano and Bro. Rolly Dizon, FSC are also principal sponsors of the chess competitions, tournament director Jessie Sanchez said.

Chessers qualified to join are the ones enrolled in school year 2005-2006, Sanchez said, adding that the participants should bring their own chess set and clock during the event.

Sixty slots are up for grabs in each division on a first-come-first-served basis with the deadline for registration set today, he said.

Interested woodpushers who wish to see action in the tournament may contact Sanchez at mobile number 09194243828 or at telephone number 435-0553. *CIT
