Computer system
eyed for governance
BY ROMY AMARADO

The Dumaguete City government is embarking on a project in which a computer program will be installed connecting all city hall departments to enhance its financial management system and improve efficiency, accessibility and transparency in its governance.

City Administrator Dominador Dumalag said that under this set-up, if the mayor wants information from the Treasurer's Office, he can just obtain it from the computer, adding that "this will enhance efficiency." The public who would like to get any information about the city government, can just log on to its website, he added.

Dumalag said that, since the city already has a standby server, the project will cost only about P300,000 for the software and consultants.

Training for some personnel is needed, with the Accounting office as the lead agency, he also said, adding that he is optimistic that the system will be in place this year.*RA
