meet on Gloria visit
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Top officials of Negros Occidental met last night to discuss the visit of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to the province on March 9 unless something more imminent happens, Rep. Ignacio Arroyo (Neg. Occ., 5th district) said yesterday.

The President is scheduled to visit the province to discuss Charter change with representatives of non-government organizations, the Church and other sectors from various parts of the province, Arroyo said.

The president will also meet with sugar planters and business groups during her visit, the solon added.

Present at the meeting at the Capitol in Bacolod, aside from Arroyo, were Representatives Tranquilino Carmona, Alfredo Maraņon III, Jose Carlos Lacson, Carlos Cojuangco, Genaro Rafael Alvarez, Gov. Joseph Maraņon, Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Arroyo said they only discussed plans for the president's visit, not the state of the nation aggravated by some Marines coming out against the President that was the focus of live television coverage yesterday afternoon.

However, the officials were said to have watched the unfolding events on television.*CPG
