NBA tourney sked finalized
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

The Negros Basketball Association-Mayor's Cup Summer Basketball Tournament will kick off on April 2 at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School in Bacolod City.

NBA president Oscar "Dodong" Bascon said the possible teams that will vie for the championship are defending champion Your Basketball Athletic Club-Emarken, headed by Jun Ballesteros, Ceres Liners of Roy Yanson and Toyota-Iloilo of Robert Uy.

Squads from the University of St. La Salle, Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and West Negros College will also most likely see action in the tournament, Bascon said.

The basketball team of Filipino boxing icon and Bacolod City's adopted son Manny Pacquiao that is coached by Negrense Nonoy Pido might also join the event, he added.

Bascon said there will be two brackets if all of the eight teams will compete in the tournament, adding that the collegiate varsity squads will carry the name of their commercial sponsors. However, if there will be less than eight teams, a single round-robin format will be adopted with the top four squads advancing into the semifinals, he added. *CIT
