Drug symposium held

A symposium on drug awareness was conducted yesterday by the Kabankalan police and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council at the city hall, with about 170 teachers, students and parents present, a Kabankalan press release said.

Councilor Efren Gaspillo Sr. gave the opening message and a film showing and a testimony of former drug user Allan Noble followed.

Nelson Pateņo, Supreme Student Government president of West Negros College in Bacolod City gave a talk while Insp. Louie Figueroa, city chief police, read the Statement of Commitment. The signing of a covenant among representatives of various schools in the city followed, the press release said. Symposium facilitators were Babette Diaz and Sangguniang Panlalawigan staff, and members of the Kabankalan police, the press release added.

Talisaynons get
PhilHealth cards

PhilHealth cards were distributed to about 1,252 residents of Talisay City, Negros Occidental by Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson (Neg. Occ., 3rd district) through the Philippine Health Corporation under the President Macapagal-Arroyo Fund, a press release from Lacson's office said yesterday.

An orientation on the benefits that recipients will get from the Enrolled-Indigents Membership program of PhilHealth was also conducted by PhilHealth Bacolod officer-in-charge, Owen Magalona, and Val Sombito, the press release added.*
