Toboso businessman killed
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A Filipino-Chinese businessman was stabbed dead allegedly by a minor in Toboso, Negros Occidental, after midnight yesterday, in what the police believe to have been triggered by grudges.

Justino Lim, 70, was found with multiple stab wounds in his room by responding Toboso policemen, Inspector Romeo Leyte said.

A 12-inch knife was still embedded in his chest when the police arrived.

Leyte, who is the Toboso police chief, said yesterday that the 17-year-old suspect whose identity has not yet been established, had escaped minutes before the police arrived at the crime scene.

Toboso police probers are looking into the angle that the killing may have been a "resbak", or revenge, for the death of a student who was allegedly beaten up at the house of Lim last year.

Leyte said the family of the student did not push through the filing of charges against the suspect for still unknown reasons.

No valuables were reported missing from the residence of Lim, the police added.

Police investigations show that the minor suspect had applied as a house helper to Lim weeks before.

Shortly before the incident, a commotion took place at the house of Lim, which was reported to the Toboso police by his neighbors, Leyte said.

The minor suspect reportedly fled towards the coastal area of Toboso, and rode a passenger jeep bound for San Carlos City.

Leyte said he has already dispatched a police team to track down the suspect who was monitored to have fled towards Brgy. Payao in Calatrava. *GPB
