Marking 40 years
Batch '66 of St. Scholastica's Academy in Bacolod City celebrated
its 40th anniversary through a grand reunion on the feast of St.
Scholastica at the SSA Gym, recently.
Ruby Jubilarians Cynthia Claparol Rodriguez, Nana Infante Jalbuena,
Alice Chang Zayco, Lina Ascalon Castellano, Susan Angudong Locsin
and Patching Alunan Puentevella were presented to the students and
faculty at the Mass by directress Sr. Lucy Togle.
The Silver Jubilarians were also presented at the special awards
rites to school faculty and employees.
Those who arrived next day were Inda Manuel Gage from Connecticut,
Penelope de Dios Querubin from Toronto, Ginny Espinos Kabigting
and Marie Lota Rodriguez from Manila, Fatima Ongsingco, Corona and
Marilyn Villarosa. They all motored to the Bantug Fish Pond in Victorias
hosted by former Mayor Remedios Bantug and son, Rey.
Then they proceeded to the New Sagay City Hall and the Sagay Kauswagan
Hotel and the Cooper-Seva Butterfly Farm and Museum in Cadiz City.
A very hectic schedule followed as the Jubilarians went to Don
Salvador Benedicto, passing through the mini Chocolate Hills and
mini-rice terraces, with stopovers at Malatan-og Falls, Jalandoni
Museum, and lunch later at Balaring with Msgr. Gigi Gaston.
The next stop was at Hda. Rosalia Chapel of the Cartwheels and
the new church in Manapla, and for the workers trip to Sipalay.
Jean Trebol, the honorary classmate of Class '66, was the host.
Recollection was also given by Fr. Matthew Fernandez of the Marian
Missionaries of the Holy Cross at Saltimboca of Patty Arceo Cuaycong,
an SSA alumna. Ballroom dancing and singing followed.
A farewell dinner at the residence of Patching Puentevella, president
and organizer of the class reunion was also held.*
Remember: "The glory of the young men is their strength; of old
men their experience."
