The Diocese of Kabankalan, in Negros Occidental, hosted
the three-day Western Visayas-Regional Association of Catechetical
Commissions Training, Institute and Schools meeting that ended yesterday,
a press release from the Kabankalan government said.
Participants were the directors of the Diocesan
Commission on Catechesis and Catechetical Institute, and coordinators
from the Dioceses of Bacolod, San Carlos and Kabankalan, in Negros
Occidental; Jaro in Iloilo; Romblon, Antique, Kalibo and Capiz.
Fr. Artemio Tubongbanua, Commission Catechesis
director of the host diocese said the activity is being undertaken
twice a year so the catechists can share their evangelization experiences
and module-making.
The participants also toured Kabankalan and visited
the Mag-aso Falls and Sonedco, the press release added.*

assembly
set in Bacolod
Fifteen delegates from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental,
will participate in the 24th General Assembly of the Association
of Disabled Persons - Negros Occidental on the theme "LGUs are Partners
of PWDs in Development," Saturday, at the Department of Labor and
Employment Training Center in Bacolod City.
The Kabankalan contingent will be led by social
worker Cyril Distajo Ramos, a press release from the city said yesterday.
Representatives of about 20 Associations of
Disabled Persons in the province are expected to attend the assembly.
A short program will open the event to be followed
by group discussions on issues concerning the PWDs, and formulation
of solutions to these problems, after the assembly, the press release
added.*

Press Club to hold
celebrity night tomorrow
The Negros Press Club will hold its celebrity night
tomorrow at the NPC social hall, San Juan Street, in Bacolod City,
club vice president Jun Julita announced in a press release yesterday.
NPC members who are February birthday celebrators
are George Liza, Vic Mercado, Hernand Garciniego, Lin Abanil, Buddy
Ferrer, William Yulores, Gilbert Bayoran, Ed Duarte, Joel Dojillo
and Nestor Padesio.
The activity this month is sponsored by former
Bacolod radio man Romy Niere who is now a resident of Austin, Texas,
in honor of his late wife, Lorna Niere whose birthday falls also
this month, the press release said.
Meanwhile, the Sunshine Cable 14 in Bacolod announced
that in its "Feedback" program hosted by Primo Esleyer, from 7 to
8 tonight, Bacolod City Police Office director Senior Supt. Pedro
Merced and local National Bureau of Investigation chief Philip Pecache
will discuss the need of the country for two national law enforcement
agencies, the Philippine National Police and the NBI.

cite practicum
host companies, agencies
A closing activity to recognize business companies
and government agencies that hosted the practicum work of 27 psychology
students of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos was held
at Sugarland Hotel, in Bacolod City, recently, a UNO-R press release
said.
Dean Dr. Evangeline Aboyo of the College of Arts
and Sciences gave the welcome address and, with Practicum adviser
Dr. John Clifford Salugsugan, distributed the certificates of appreciation
to supervisors and representatives of the host companies and agencies.
Two UNO-R psychology graduates who now head the
Human Resource and Development offices of their companies gave inspirational
messages. Two practicum students gave the response.
Also present at the event were Dr. Jose Ferraris
Jr., vice president for Academics, Nomer Mangulabnan, psychology/philosophy
department head Susan Caler, instructors Celo Magallanes and Ding
Flores, and former university instructress Dr. Balintawak Gareza,
