Personal check used
to speed up payment
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bacolod Rep. Monico Puntevella yesterday said he used his personal check to pay for the electric bill incurred at the Panaad Sports Stadium during the Southeast Asian Games because he was expediting payment.

However, he said the amount he paid is to be reimbursed by the Philippine Sports Commission.

The solon gave the explanation amid questions raised on why a personal check was used to pay an account of the government.

He said Gov. Joseph Maraņon had asked for payment of the electric bill, and to hasten the process, he used his personal funds, just as he had done when he advanced payments to the SEAG volunteers.

The amount paid for the Panaad electric bill was P434,981.60.*CPG
