Nike badminton tourney
takes centerstage Saturday

Five crowns are up for grabs in the 2nd NIKE Park Smash and Drop Challenge that begins Saturday at the Pohang Badminton Center in Bacolod City. Shuttlers from Cebu, Bacolod, Capiz, Iloilo, Dumaguete and Aklan are eyeing titles in the men's doubles, ladies doubles, mixed doubles, juniors 15-16 and juniors below 13 divisions.

Cash prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the tournament as well as Nike gift certificates and glass trophies, tournament organizer Julia Javellana said in a press release.

The 2nd NIKE Park Smash and Drop Challenge is supported by the Negros Occidental Cultural and Sports Foundation, 99.1 FM-Crossover, Del Monte, Jegabytes, Merci Pasalubong Center, Dynamic Builders and Fitrum, the press release said.

The proceeds of the two-day tournament, which will have its awarding ceremonies at the Café Breizh, will benefit the orphans of the Holy Infant Nursery in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, the press release added.
