Man killed over piglet
BY RENE GENOVE

A security guard from Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental, was killed after he was repeatedly stabbed with an icepick by the brother of his live-in partner following an argument over a sick piglet, in Brgy. Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, recently.

Police identified the victim as Edwin Norbe, 33, of Hinigaran. who is living in Bajumpandan with his partner and their children, and the suspect as Celso Corda, 34, single, also of the barangay.

Dumaguete City chief of police, Chief Insp. Emmanuel Hidalgo, said that before the stabbing, Norbe had a heated argument with Corda whom he accused of feeding their piglet with papaya leaves, causing the animal to develop diarrhea.

Norbe allegedly arrived home at about 6 p.m. of that day, apparently under the influence of intoxicating liquor, and threatened to shoot everyone inside the house of the Cordas.

Corda said he could not stand Norbe's acts, so he got an ice-pick and stabbed him five times in the body.

He also told the police that he did that because Norbe might attack him first. He gave himself up to the police after the incident.

Norbe died at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital a few hours later.*RG
