Nursing board resolution
out but still no WNC exam results
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Board of Nursing Monday issued Resolution No. 14 granting the release of the December 2005 Nurses' Licensure Examination results of West Negros College examinees who had taken not more than 35 units and only one Related Learning Experience a semester.

BON Resolution No. 14, which takes effect immediately, states that the examination results of those who had taken more than 35 units per semester will be subjected to Commission on Higher Education evaluation and recommendation before the release or cancellation of examination papers and/or their debarment from taking another examination.

WNC vice president Ernesto Arbolario, who furnished the DAILY STAR a copy of the resolution, said it was good news and he was optimistic that results of more examines will be released. However, a BON source yesterday said there are very few examinees whose examination results could be released based on the resolution. The source, however, refused to give a figure or the names of the passers.

No explanation was given about the delay in the release of the names of the examinees whose results can be released under the provisions of Resolution No. 14.

Resolution No. 14 says the chairpersons of the Commission on Higher Education and the Professional Regulation Commission have jointly agreed to amend their previous agreement contained in BON Resolution No.4.

Under BON Resolution No.4 examination results of those with a load not exceeding 30 units and RLE hours in accordance with CHED Memo. No. 30, Series of 2001, will be released and those with loads exceeding 30 units will be withheld.

However, the board, on examination of documents involving the WNC examinees, found that there were no examinees qualified to have their results released under Resolution No.4, the new resolution said.

Nelia Gonzales, lawyer of the WNC graduates from Iloilo who have a pending petition for mandamus against the PRC and BON officials for them to release their board examination results, yesterday filed a motion to cite all the respondents in contempt.

The Iloilo RTC, on Feb 13, had ordered the PRC and BON to turn over the board examination papers and answer sheets of the petitioners to the court, and a certified copy of the report submitted by PRC regional head Lily Ann Baldago on the WNC case to the petitioners. Gonzales said the PRC and BON officials have failed to comply and a hearing of her motion for contempt will be held Friday.*CPG
