Beach volley group's
formal organization set
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

The Beach Volleyball Association of the Philippines will be formally organized during the National Beach Volleyball Referee Course Congress that begins today at the Pilapil Hall of La Salle Greenhills in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.

Philippine Volleyball Federation president Roger Banzuela said the BVAP will be organized in the five-day congress that ends on Sunday because it is the only occasion where all the beach volleyball referees in the Philippines will be gathered.

Topics such as refereeing guidelines, the duties and responsibilities of referees and the scoring system of beach volleyball games will be tackled during the event, Banzuela said.

Practical officiating and scoring, and beach volleyball cases for study will also be taken at the La Salle Greenhills sandcourts, he added.

Banzuela said the BVAP will be organized to maximize the talents of the beach volleyball players in the country and that they will be given continuous programs to develop their skills.

Filipino-Americans Heidi Ilustre and Diane Pascua bagged bronze medals for the Philippines in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games women's beach volleyball competitions at the University of St. La Salle sandcourts in Bacolod City.*CIT
