The police yesterday ruled out the participation of the Revolutionary
Proletarian Army in the killing Thursday of Norberto Biņas, one
of the suspects involved in the death of an RPA leader in Silay
City, Negros Occidental, last year.
Silay acting police chief Samuel Mina said they believe the
suspects behind the assassination of Biņas maybe relatives of Joemarie
Pamuceno.
Biņas and his two sons had been charged for homicide, in
connection with the death of Pamuceno, the police said.
Mina, however, said they need a confirmatory statement from
the Biņas family to ensure an air tight case against the gunmen.
Victorino Sumulong, RPA spokesman, in an interview over ABS-CBN,
yesterday said their group had nothing to do with the death of Biņas.
Mina said the presence of the Pamuceno family members and
their relatives had been noted at the crime scene at Brgy. Bagtic,
Silay City, shortly before Biņas was shot dead Thursday.
Biņas and three other passengers were on board a multi-cab
vehicle bound for Silay poblacion, when they were ambushed by three
unidentified armed men.
The three other co-passengers of Binas who were hit by stray
bullets survived, the police said.
Biņas, who was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Locsin
Memorial Hospital in Silay City, sustained multiple gunshot wounds,
including a fatal injury in the head, the police said.
Three empty shells and a .45 caliber pistol bullet were recovered
from the crime scene by Silay policemen.*GPB
