Landslide contingency plan set
BY NANETTE GUADALQUIVER

Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Maraņon said yesterday that the provincial government already has a contingency plan after determining possible landslide areas in the province.

These areas are located along riverbanks, he said.

Maraņon announced the move of the Provincial Disaster Management Team after the deadly landslide in St. Bernard, Southern Leyte last Friday.

He said that the implementation of the disaster plan will be coordinated with the local government units that will also disseminate information to their residents.

Maraņon said that, in case of a possible landslide, it is important for people living riverbanks to leave their homes as early as possible to ensure their safety.*NLG
