Offers for new city hall
still being considered
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod City Administrator Lorendo Dilag yesterday said the city is still considering all offers for the proposed new city hall for Bacolod City.

Dilag said the city officials have not yet subjected the 17 offers received by the city to an elimination process. He said he will leave for Manila today to study the new government center constructed by the local government of Manila beside its old city hall.

He was informed by Vice Mayor Novero and Councilor Ana Marie Palermo that if the city vacates the present City Hall, it will be claimed back by the Luzuriaga family that donated it, Dilag said.

"We cannot afford to give up the present site because it has become a landmark in Bacolod City," he said.

Dilag said the donation of the present City Hall can be investigated at the Register of Deeds.

The city officials will hold a site inspection on the lots being offered to the city for the new city hall. Out of the 17 lots presented during a public hearing last week, three are confirmed donations, while the rest are either for sale, or partially donated with some portions offered for sale. Also there are three city-owned properties.*CGS
