Teener nabbed for
poking gun at uncle
BY DONALYN GUERRERO

A 16-year-old girl was arrested by Precinct 1 policemen for allegedly poking an improvised firearm, locally known as "sumpak", at her 27-year-old uncle, following an altercation at Purok Kingfisher, Brgy. 16, Bacolod City, at about 12:45 p.m. yesterday.

Ramie Pelegrino, 27, of Brgy. 16 told the police that he and his niece, whose name is being withheld as she is a minor, were teasing each other yesterday morning when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, the girl told the DAILY STAR yesterday, Pelegrino insulted her and threw invectives at her, which drove her to chase him with a "sumpak" and bolo. She said she did not intend to kill Pelegrino but only wanted to threaten him.

Pelegrino said he was surprised to see his nice armed with a "sumpak" and its prompted him to get his 2-month-old and 3-year-old sons and seek his neighbors' help. Brgy. Tanod Jeffrey Ayupan, 34, said he saw Pelegrino running towards him as he was being chased by the suspect who was armed with a firearm and bolo.

Ayupan said he and other bystanders pacified the niece and managed to get the "sumpak" with three live bullets and bolo from her.*DMG
