A Valentine's Day show
A Valentine's Day fundraising show called "Cerrudo: Heart and Soul"
featuring Manila singer and theater artist Bimbo Cerrudo was recently
held by the St. Scholastica's Bacolod Alumnae Foundation Inc. at
Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod.
Tickets were sold-out before the presentation. All visitors were
elegantly dressed and coiffed.
Emcee of the show that started after dinner was Al Melgar while
dance and stage director Rene Hinojales announced the opening.
Cerrudo was accompanied by guest soprano Karla Gutierrez and the
RSVP String Ensemble. Cerrudo delighted the audience, especially
the golden girls, and took them on a trip down memory lane. The
moving part of the show was when he introduced two of the pediatric
beneficiaries of the foundation and sang to them "Nothing's Gonna
Harm You."
These two children -- Rhyze Gyle Jacosalem who recently had a
successful heart operation in Manila and Jerry Fernandez, who is
still undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia - represented countless
beneficiaries the foundation has helped through its "Save a Life
Project."
An added treat to the audience was when special door prizes were
given: three stuffed toys from Russ Berrie & Co., from alumna, Angelica
Urra-Berrie, and a tote bag in bison leather from Rafe Totengco.
Kudos to the members of the foundation who worked hard on the
project: Christine Velez-Vargas, Jean Velez-Trebol, Susan Angodung-Locsin,
Betsy Ledesma-Coscolluela, Elena Valderrama-Fermin, Jing Remitio-Ramirez,
Dr. Diane Resurreccion-Nandwani, Maridel Ordoņez-Gamban, Nining
Jacinto-Tinsay, Ria Tongoy-Villanueva, Jarie Jalandoni-Yulo, Chole,
Cuenca-Chua, Pili Luzuriaga-Mendezona, Gina Severino-Regalado, Mai-Magadia-Paltriguera
and Bing Yusay-Sison.
Remember: "If money can't buy it, it's probably worth having love."*
