in Abu Dhabi seeks help of province
BY ROMY AMARADO

The family of a Dumaguete City resident who died in Abu Dhabi reportedly due to traffic incident is now seeking the help of the Oriental Negros government to clarify the circumstances of his death.

Provincial legal officer Erwin Vergara told the DAILY STAR that Mariton Gay Albiņo, of Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete came to his office and asked for help to attain justice for the death of her brother.

Vergara said that, Mariton, in her affidavit said that her brother, Mark Anthony, 23, an engineer died on January10 at Madinat Zayed Road, Abu Dhabi after being hit by a vehicle.

Mark, an engineer was visiting his sister Mariton who is working for an airline company in Abu Dhabi. Vergara said Mariton wants to be able to get the details of the incident and whether the driver was really jailed as claimed by the police in Abu Dhabi.

Vergara added that the victim's sister had gone to the police in Abu Dhabi, but failed to get the information she was seeking due to the language barrier between her and the police.

He added that his office will coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs for appropriate action. Mark's body was brought by his sister back to the Philippines on January 12.*RA
