Aspirants' semis set tomorrow
BY CRHISTIAN IRL TAN

Reigning titlist University of St. La Salle guns for a seat in the finals when it collides with Bacolod Tay Tung High School at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the semifinal-round of the NOPSSCEA aspirants boys' basketball tournament at the Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

Mansilingan Christian Academy will take on St. John's Institute in the second semifinal encounter at 11 a.m. The La Sallians, coached by Troy Sarabia, swept its elimination-round assignments to top Bracket A with a 5-0 slate, while BTTHS posted a 4-2 win-loss record to advance into the final four as the second seed in Bracket B.

MCA barged into the semifinals as the first seed in Bracket B with an unblemished 6-0 win-loss record as SJI registered a 4-1 after the eliminations to be the second seed in Bracket A.

The Baby Stingers, who finished their elimination-round campaign with an 84-45 demolition of St. John's last week, is expected to rely on the playmaking skills of Luigi Dela Paz and Timothy Dumancas to score a win against BTTHS.

Point guard Romar Galvez will most likely lead the offense of Tay Tung, which scored victories against University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, 77-59, and UNO-R Talisay, 47-43, last week to earn a berth in the semifinals. Mansilingan also finished its elimination-round campaign last week in a bright note as it posted impressive triumphs over St. Rose of Lima School, 78-63, and West Negros College, 62-54. *CIT
