BISCOM planters' groups tackle
sugar production, bagasse share

The Alliance of Biscom Associations discussed the concerns and issues of different associations of the mill district during a meeting held at the Business Inn Bacolod City Thursday.

The group, chaired by Andy Feria, said in a press release that, as of the 19th week of milling ending February 12, total gross tons delivered by district and non-district planters to Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company has 1,211,501.97 tons at 1.79 Lkg.

Total sugar manufactured during the period was 2,170,187.54 Lkg.

BIPA topped the total canes delivered, equivalent to 30 percent, followed by PASON, 29 percent, IPOBI, 24 percent, UNIFARMS, 14 percent and COFA, two percent, the press release said.

It also said that BISCOM will start operating its newly installed broiler this February. The installation of the broiler is expected to increase mill capacity by 15 to 20 percent.

The group also discussed the issue on the bagasse planter's share wherein bagasse production is 31.44 percent of the total gross tons milled with BISCOM. Bagasse, a by-product of sugar, is the primary fuel source of the sugarmill, the press release added.*
