Celebrating love

Love makes the world go round. Despite our anemic economic condition and political instability, regardless of our stature in life, be we young and old, love will always be in vogue. To quote from Desiderata, "Love is as perennial as the grass". Right!

The city was abuzz with families, friends, and lovers on Valentine's Day. Earlier we were with Nonoy and Girl Cuaycong at Sugarland Hotel to catch the Valentine Concert of Bimbo Cerrudo (more on this on the next issue!).

Later I went off to L'Fisher where my Berks were waiting for me. It was no surprise that all tables were taken and more people were coming. It was Valentine's Day! Constant patrons like the Limjaps, Elize Jison and family, Tony Gatuslao and family, Sam and Elda Mondia and family, Mrs. Lupe Alcala and family and many more, were there.

At the lobby, Kulay (Quartet) was singing favorite love songs from yesteryears. Gene Mapa, Milet de Leon, Angel and Tess Tonsay, Mante Flores and the balikbayan from Maryland extended our stay just to listen to old love songs.

And celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary were Macoy and Dolly Lopez, with the newlywed couple Neil and Rowena Lopez Lizares.

Jimmy Golez was busy entertaining his friends from Washington D.C., who were here for leisure but most of all to play golf. Now, they are having a golf tournament in Davao. As usual, Delia Ciocon Granada and the Ciocon siblings Marides Mapa and Maridel were busy-bodies, always checking and making sure that all dishes were replenished.

On the way out we met Edgar Alunan, Joe Leonardia and their group out for a nightcap after watching the Bimbo Cerrudo concert. As always, the lovely lagoon was filled with people celebrating Valentine's Day. The weather was a special gift from above. Viva Amore!* Remember: "Stop wishing for things, you complain you have not, and start making the best of all that you've got."
