2 sexagenarians nabbed

Two sexagenarians were apprehended yesterday by the Bacolod Warrant and Subpoena Section operatives in Bacolod City, for estafa charges and violation of Batasang Pambansa 22, or the Bouncing Check Law.

Arrested for estafa charges was Wenceslao Willie Legaria Uy, 63, of Purok Himaya, Brgy. Mansilingan for whom an arrest warrant was issued by Judge Ramon Delariarte of the Regional Trial Court Branch 49 on Jan. 25, police reports said. The WSS operatives were led by SPO4 Herson Villanueva in the arrest.

No bail was set for Uy, who is now detained in the lock-up cell of Bacolod police office.

Meanwhile, the group also arrested Guillermo Jardeleza Japitana, 60, of No. 7 Hilado Street, Capitol Shopping Center, Brgy. 17, Bacolod City for four counts of BP 22, or the Bouncing Check Law, police reports said.

Japitana was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Remegio Rojo of the Municipal Trail Court in Cities, Branch 5 on May 15, 2003, police reports also said.

Japitana's bailbond was set at P2,000 for each count. He is also detained at the lock-up cell of the Bacolod police office.*DMG
