BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Less than a year after he was promoted to chief inspector (major), Task Force Ilahas enforcement unit chief William Seņoron who is concurrently police chief of Sagay City, in Negros Occidental has again been promoted to the rank of police superintendent, or lieutenant colonel in the military.

The promotion of Seņoron and 19 others took effect Dec. 31 last year as stipulated in General Orders no. 274 issued and signed by PNP chief Arturo Lomibao and approved by the National Police Commission.

Police records show that the TFI enforcement unit commanded by Seņoron had been awarded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as "2005 Environment Champion" in the public sector category, for its valuable support in the preservation of environment in Negros Occidental.

The 2nd Provincial Mobile Group, whose command he relinquished to Supt. Norberto Boston in October last year, has also been adjudged best provincial mobile group in Negros Occidental for 2005.

Seņoron had also served as police chief of Ilog and Himamaylan, respectively, in the late 1990's.

Drug suspect denied bail
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An alleged member of the Kalye Bato drug gang, who was recently arrested during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Tabao, Valladolid, Negros Occidental was denied bail by the court, the police said.

Senior Inspector Rico Santotome, Valladolid police chief, yesterday identified the person facing drug-related charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as Leo Junio, alias Kumpol.

Santotome said Junio had been arrested and denied bail for selling 32 sticks of suspected dried marijuana leaves to a poseur-buyer. However a P200,000 bail has been recommended by the court for another charge of possession of 1.5 grams of similar prohibited drugs.

Police investigations show that Junio is an alleged member of the Kalye Bato Group, an organized gang of drug pushers operating in Brgys. Tabao, Bagumbayan, Central Tabao and Saguabanwa, all in Valladolid.

Junio is now detained at the Valladolid Police Station jail.

Santotome said the arrest of Junio resulted from their "Know thy Neighborhood Watch" campaign, which is now gaining ground because of the support of the community.

Police records also showed that the Valladolid Police Station also topped the list of 31 police stations in Negros Occidental having the most number of firearms recovered within a one month.

As of last week, 28 unlicensed firearms had been accounted for by the Valladolid police.*GPB
