Wanted person shot,
stray dog bites cop

A 27-year-old man charged for attempted homicide was shot in the arm allegedly by apprehending policemen when he tried to evade arrest in Purok Katilingban, Brgy. 40, Bacolod City at about 9 a.m. yesterday.

George Buli-buli who is accused of stabbing his neighbor in 2002, was nabbed at his residence, by policemen armed with an arrest warrant issued by Judge George Patriarca. The Bacolod Warrant and Sub-poena Section men were led by SPO1 Herson Villanueva and the City Mobile Group by Insp. Luisito Acebuche.

Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced yesterday said Buli-buli, who was armed with .357 caliber revolver jumped off the Magsungay River in the barangay to escape, prompting the Bacolod police to fire a warning shot.

Buli-buli hid among the thorny bamboo clumps near the river but he was hit with a bullet from the service firearm of responding policemen, he said.

Merced said the warning shots aimed to neutralize Buli-buli who resisted arrest. Insp. Danilo Acebuche, CMG group director was bitten by a stray dog during the apprehension, he added.

The Bacolod police also arrested Buli-buli's older brother, Joery and neighbor Sonny Canete, 22 for obstruction of justice and coddling of a criminal, Merced said. The older Buli-buli and Canete, meanwhile, denied the accusations, saying the police falsely charged them.

Police records showed that Buli-buli has pending cases for illegal possession of firearm and homicide before the Bacolod prosecutor's office.

Merced said his men are validating Buli-buli's involvement in other crimes such as "akyat-bahay" or robbery incidents and hold-up.*DMG
