Results of more nursing grads
to be released, CHED chair says
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella yesterday said Commission on Higher Education chairman Carlito Puno has agreed to allow the release of the nursing board examination results of West Negros College graduates who took 35 units and below.

Earlier a Board of Nursing resolution said it would release the board examination results of only those who had taken 30 units and below a semester.

Puno, who appeared before the House Committee on Higher Education yesterday, admitted that there were a series of errors on the part of CHED and the Professional Regulation Commission that led to the WNC problem, Puentevella said.

The PRC has yet to release the results of the December nursing board examination taken by 599 WNC nursing graduates, examinee Nelia Gonzales said yesterday.

Puentevella said Puno agreed to raise the units to 35 after their discussion and disclosed that WNC has agreed to one free semester for graduates with overloads above 35 units.

The House committee was informed that the results would be released but, as of press time, the list promised him had not been sent, Puentevella said.

PRC Chairperson Leonor Tripon-Rosero, in a letter to Puno dated Feb. 9, said that although BON Resolution No 4. had stated that examination results of only those who had taken 30 units and below would be released, they found out that most of the WNC examinees had more than 30 units overload, especially during their last semester.

Even if they have the correct number of units, they have taken at least two Related Learning Experience loads in a semester, which is not allowed under CHED Memorandum No. 30, series of 2001, she said. However, upon deliberation the BON suggested that, for humane consideration, they release the results of those with overloads of 35 units and below, Rosero said.*CPG
