A 46-year-old man who has reportedly not left his rented room
for three days was found dead by a visiting cousin in Molave, Brgy.
Daro, Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros, late afternoon recently.
Homicide investigators identified the dead man as Leopoldo
Abella, a pedicab driver who is separated from his wife, and a resident
of Molave.
SPO1 Louis Lacandula, police investigator, said that other
occupant of the house noted that the last time Abella went out of
his room was at about 7 p.m. Thursday last week.
Minutes later, he returned to his room and had not been seen
since, the occupant added.
Three days later, Joaquin Jeffrey Abella III of Brgy. Bantayan,
a cousin of the victim, dropped in to visit him and was surprised
to see the room padlocked from the inside, police said.
After it was learned from the occupant that the victim had
not been seen for three days, the door of the victim's room was
forced open and the body was found, with drying blood from his mouth.
A post-mortem inspection report showed that the victim had
died of hemorrhagic shock.*
