Magnolia, TBAC
remain unbeaten

Magnolia Nutri-oil and Talisay Basketball Athletic Club repelled their respective rivals Saturday night to stay unscathed in the 6th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Cup Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

Magnolia, led by 2005 MVP Warren Alintano, routed LXG, 92-74, for its fifth win and remain on top of Bracket B, while Talisay Basketball Athletic Club scored a 100-86 victory over Buddy's.

It was TBAC's fourth win, while Buddy's dropped to 2-3. The loss to Magnolia proved to be a big blow to LXG as it remained in fifth place in Bracket B with a 1-4 record.

Meanwhile, Krua Thai tripped Davies-Republic Hardware, 85-80, for its fourth in win in four games and solo second in Bracket B.

Oneball Talatala and Ireneo Morales rescued KT-Ice Monster from the jaws of defeat as they combined for their team's last 10 points, after Davies led, 78-75, with 2:43 left.

TalaTala finished with 21 points, including 12 in the final period, with Godoy Cepriano and Nene Sibaya adding 17 and 11, respectively. Davies was led by Cesar Ordas with 15 points and Carlo De La Torre with 10. Bobby Yap and Manny Merelos chipped in 8 apiece.

In other games, Panasonic-Po's Marketing hung tough in the fourth period to escape with an 88-84 win over Tangub Basketball Association, while Mambukal Summer Resort crushed AMG Pawnshop/Summit, 95-68, to improve to its record to 3-1.

AMG pawnshop dropped to 3-2.

Bobby Cepeda completed a three-point play to give the lead to Panasonic, 86-84, with 36 seconds remaining and capped his heroics by splitting his charities to seal the win.

Cepeda registered 19 points as Santiago Rapiz contributed 15. Genaro Ledesma and Jun Terol added 12 and 10, respectively. TBA was led by Alex Soqueño with 15 markers, while Elmer Santander picked up 13. Rodel Nicor also scored 12 points. *CPT
