2 men nabbed for heist

Two persons were arrested by Police Precinct 2 personnel
in a hot-pursuit operation for allegedly holding up two Bacolod
residents in Purok Kamunsil, Brgy. 3, in Bacolod City at about 8:20
p.m. Sunday.
Arrested were Jovanie Pacheco Pelaro, 31, married
and Davis Blocora Dingson, 26, single, both of Purok Langis, Brgy.
Banago, Bacolod City who were positively identified by the complainants
as responsible for the hold-up, police reports said.
Complainant Emmanuel Perez told the police he
and Kristine Duren were walking in the area when Pelaro approached
them and poked a 12-inch bladed weapon at Duren who was holding
her cellphone, police reports said.
Pelaro grabbed Duren's Nokia 6610 cellphone and
boarded a red motorcycle reportedly driven by Dingson to flee, the
reports also said.
In an interview, Dingson and Pelaro denied the
allegation against them, saying the complainants had only mistaken
them. They claimed that they were on their way to the house of their
friend when they were chased by a patrol car and arrested for robbery-hold-up.
Insp. Levy Pangue, Police Precinct 2 commander,
said Pelaro and Dingson were subjected to drug tests at the Crime
Laboratory yesterday, and their fingerprints and pictures were taken.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City police director, Senior
Supt. Pedro Merced, yesterday said he has directed Pangue to validate
the possible connections of Pelaro and Dingson to other robbery-hold-up
incidents in the city.
Meanwhile, Sunny Boy Asle, 18, and two minors, aged
13 and 15, were arrested by Police Precinct 9 personnel for allegedly
stealing 52 empty beer bottles from the Hok Hwa Marketing in Brgy.
Sum-ag, Bacolod at about 7:40 a.m. Sunday, police reports said.
The three are now detained in the lock-up cell of Precinct 9 for
robbery charges, while four of their alleged companions had escaped
and are still at-large, police reports said.*DMG

NEGROS
briefing held in Silay
About 16 barangay captains and representatives of
barangays in Silay City, Negros Occidental attended the briefing
on Gameplan NEGROS given by police provincial director Charles Calima
Jr. at the Silay City Operations Center, recently, a press release
from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said yesterday.
The activity is aimed to foster cooperation among
policemen and barangay leaders in the establishment of a barangay
intelligence network and in the swift solution of criminal cases.
Present at the briefing were Silay Mayor Carlo Gamban;
Senior Insp. Samuel Mina Jr., Silay police chief; Councilor Mario
Gamboa, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay and chairman of the
Committee on Police Matters; Rey del Rosario; and Catrina Uytiepo,
who gave a briefing on the features of the Police Information Network
Program and its applications, the press release also said.*

Employee should be
placed under investigation: Merced

Bacolod City police director. Senior Supt. Pedro
Merced. yesterday directed Chief Insp. Jimmy Fortaleza, Police Precinct
1 commander, to intensify the investigation into the hold-up incident
at the LBC Express Inc. office at Lacson Street in Bacolod City
Saturday afternoon.
Merced said Charlotte dela Cruz Abancio, 28,
single, of Victorias City and an LBC Inc. employee, who reported
to Police Precinct 1, should be put under intensive interrogation
so the suspect can be identified.
Merced said three police mobile patrols had responded
to the area, when the incident was reported but the information
Abancio provided them and her description of the suspect were incomplete
about the incident.
Abancio sought police assistance an hour after
an unidentified person posing as customer allegedly approached her,
poked a .38 caliber revolver at her, and declared a hold-up, Merced
said.
The culprit took her collection of P10,000 and
two cellphones, police reports said.
Merced said he will allow the sketching of the hold-upper's
face if it could help in the investigation.*DMG
