Adopt GAD requested
programs, brgys asked

A resolution urging all 61 barangays in Bacolod City to adopt or implement the programs and policies requested by the Bacolod City Gender and Development Council was approved Thursday by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The GAD Council asked the barangays to assign, train, provide honorarium and training expenses for at least one GAD focal point officer in their area, who will work full-time to attend all GAD-related projects of the barangays; to create a barangay GAD Council to provide seminars and awareness of Republic Act no. 9262, and other laws on women and to recommend policies to the barangay;

To set aside a budget for activities of its women, especially during the Women's Month and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence; to empower the GAD focal point officer, and to provide financial, legal, shelter, medical assistance to victims of VAW-C, or Violence Against Women and Children.*CGS
