Mayor Evelio Leonardia will solemnize the marriages
of 374 couples from Bacolod City in a mass wedding at 10 a.m. tomorrow,
at the BAYS Center, a city hall press release said yesterday.
The mass wedding, held in line with the Civil
Registration Month, will be the biggest number of couples whose
marriages will be officiated by Leonardia.
"Since I assumed office, I have always called
on couples who have lived together for years without the solemnity
of marriage to legalize their union as husband and wife, especially
for those who have been postponing their wedding for financial reasons,"
Leonardia said in the press release.
Civil Registration Month is observed all over the
country in February, and is based on Proclamation No. 682 issued
by former President Corazon Aquino on January 28,1991, the press
release added.*

The search for outstanding alumni of the Bacolod
City National High School has been launched by its Golden Jubilarians
or Class 1956, Ruby Jubilarians (Class 1966) and the Silver Jubilarians
(Class 1981), a press release from the alumni association said.
The winners will be awarded at the annual general
alumni homecoming of the school on April 22 and 23, at the Bacolod
Arts Center, BCNHS, in Bacolod City, it said.
The search is aimed at recognizing graduates
who have dedicated their lives to community and country, served
as role models, and lived exemplary virtuous lives.
All graduates of 1956, 1966, and 1981 are eligible
to join, and achievements and awards, particularly within the last
five years preceding the nomination, will be given priority in the
evaluation, the press release added.*
