The Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade yesterday
strongly condemned the killing of Rogelio Magbato, alias Ka Malvar,
and two members of the Civilian Volunteer's Organization, for which
responsibility was admitted by the New People's Army.
Ka Victorino Sumolong, RPA-ABB spokesman, said in a statement,
that the killing of Ka Malvar, has only proven the accusations against
them of being a "terrorist" organization.
Dismissing all the accusations against Ka Malvar as unfounded
and baseless, Sumolong said his only mistake was breaking his ties
with the New People's Army.
Charges of multiple murder have already been filed by the
Mabinay police against the alleged assassins identified as TJ Michael
Nuyco, Eddie Amper and three John Does.
A day after the death of Malvar and CVO members Rogelio Maylan
and Joel Mahusay, Amper was arrested by a combined team of policemen
and soldiers of the 61st Infantry Battalion in Mabinay, Oriental
Negros.
Amper, however, was released after the lapse of his reglamentary
period for detention and shortly before the police filed charges
against him before the Oriental Negros Prosecutor's Office in Dumaguete
City.
Ka Bayani Obrero, NPA Boy Gatmaitan Command spokesman, said
Malvar was punished for the alleged rape-slay of a minor, land grabbing,
extortion activities and active participation in counter-insurgency
campaign of the military.
Malvar sustained gunshot wounds on his left temple and back,
the military said.
Sumulong said it is a nationwide program of the CPP-NPA to
kill battle-tested and veteran cadres who renounce their ties with
the mainstream rebel faction.
Malvar who used to be a model RPA-ABB district commander in
Negros, had served the New People's Army for more than 20 years,
he added.
Sumulong said the CPP-NPA fabricated accusations against Malvar
to justify his death.*GPB
