Dauin man knifed dead

The police in Dauin town, Oriental Negros, are investigating the death of a 58-year-old man believed to have been ambushed and stabbed dead on his way home Monday night in Brgy. Bulak, in the town.

Police identified the victim as Desiderio Ventoliro, married, of Brgy. San Miguel, Bacong town, who was allegedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor after a "tabo" or market day in Brgy. Lipayo, Dauin.

Residents of Bulak found his body with a stab wound on the chest. The motive of the killing is still unknown, police said.

Meanwhile, in Ayungon town, a man also believed to be under the influence of liquor hacked his elder brother over the weekend in Brgy. Carol-an.

The suspect identified as Dominador Cadano, Jr., 26, single, of Carol-an, was still at-large up to press time yesterday.

The victim, Guaben Cadano, 44, married, of Mabinay town, was confined at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City. He said he and his younger brother were leaving their parents' house after a visit at past 10 p.m., when, without any word, the suspect hacked him in the shoulder.

Cadano managed to run back to his parents' house for help while his brother escaped.

He said that earlier that day, he and his brother went to Brgy. Mabigo for a drink, and he had no idea why he later attacked him.*RG
