Schools vow to strengthen
workforce for IT companies

ITS-NET unanimously supported Tuesday the move of the Bacolod City IT Focus Team to fully expand the manpower supply required by existing and future IT-related service companies, such as call centers and medical transcription firms.

Meanwhile, educational institutions in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City belonging to the Information Technology Schools Network have vowed to strengthen the local workforce for IT locators.

Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chairperson of the IT Focus Team, said ITS-NET committed to share modules and curriculum with all schools to improve the foundation of graduates in written and oral English as well as computer skills, collate data on all qualified graduates and students in the schools level and submit these to the IT Team.

She said this shows that the academic environment is ready for the influx of call center manpower requirements.

She said that the Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution yesterday favorably endorsing the application of Lopue's East IT Centre in Brgy. Villamonte for registration as an IT park with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority. This brings the number of IT parks endorsed by the SP to three, to include the Bacolod City IT Park in Brgy. Estefania, The Block, also in Brgy. Villamonte and the Robinsons Metro Bacolod building at Araneta Street.*CGS
