The University of St. La Salle-Integrated School
in Bacolod City will celebrate its Family Day Sunday on the theme
"Ang Pamilya Lasalista," a press release from the USLS-Integrated
Schools Parents Association Inc. said yesterday.
About 8000 students, alumni, school administrators,
teachers and their families are expected to attend the event which
will showcase various Filipino festivities.
Msgr. Victorino Rivas, vicar general of the Diocese
of Bacolod, will officiate at the concelebrated Mass in the morning.
Other activities lined-up are indoor and outdoor games, bingo games,
free raffle prizes, and cultural and modern presentations including
that of ACES band from Cebu and champion drumbeater Tribu Tres La
Carlota.
The officers of the USLS-INSPA Inc. for 2005-2006
are Edmundo Zata - chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alberto Nellas
- president, Chuchi Moreno - vice president, Sylvia Azurin - secretary,
Luisito Ramos - treasurer, Dirk Molenaar - auditor, and members
of the Board of Trustees Leonie Belzunce, Rodel Parcon, Edna Raymaro,
Joy Sobrevega, Evelyn Suguitan and George Zulueta.
Spearheading the Family Day affair are Sally Ocampo,

Kidney
transplantation
conducted in Bacolod
A landmark kidney transplantation was performed on
a 26-year-old woman at the Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital
in Bacolod City, recently, a press release from the hospital said.
The patient's 52-year-old mother donated the
kidney for the operation that was conducted by kidney transplant
and vascular surgeon Jesus Maestral, nephrologist Jerome Pepingco
with Drs. Henry Geroche, Romeo Reyes, Ricardo Yusay, Ephraim Aquino,
Sarah Bangit and Marty Arellano.
Pepingco said the success of the operation will
give hope to patients afflicted with the dreaded End Stage Kidney
Failure, or those on dialysis.
Dr. Yolanda Yasay, medical director of the hospital,
said the charity venture was done through the help of its president
Dr. Evangeline Johnson, the press release added.*

District IV scholarship
applicants set for interview
An interview of 23 applicants from District IV who
qualified for scholarships from the Negros Occidental government
will be held today at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital
in La Carlota City, a Capitol press release said yesterday.
Interviewees for the Pagka-on Scholarship Program
are Ian Mark Ciocon of Ramon Torres National High School Louisiana
Extension; Ruffa Mae Gersaniva - Sum-ag National High School; Jocel
E-oy - La Castellana National High School; Irene Rotas - Pontevedra
National High School; Ma. Victoria Regonel - Tabao National High
School; and Nelsa Gaugano and Jodelyn Yanson - Enriqueta Montilla
