The operations manager of the Greengold Protective Security Agency
Corporation yesterday denied reports revealed in the police initial
investigation Tuesday that they are extorting money in the guise
of recruiting security guards.
Eduardo Gabotero, operations manager of the Greengold Protective
Security Agency Corporation in Bacolod City, yesterday told the
DAILY STAR that their agency is legal and registered at Camp Crame
and that it is not true that they are non-existent as claimed earlier
by Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced.
He said the security agency has a postal address at the Manville
Royale, in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City and is managed by his brother,
retired Chief Insp. Nicasio Gabotero, formerly assigned at the Camp
Carme, and not by "Interpol general" Julio Quirino who
was arrested by the Bacolod police after staging an "assault"
on a police station Thursday last week, Gabotero said.
He said the Greengold security agency is contemplating to file
legal action against Quirino for allegedly dragging the agency in
the issue.
Documents obtained by the DAILY STAR showed the Greengold Protective
and Investigation Security Agency Corporation has been registered
with the PNP in accordance with the provisions of the Republic act
5487 entitled "Private Security Agency Law", under the
management of Chief Insp. Gabotero. Its license will expires on
Jan. 31, 2008, records show.
The security agency which has its main office at McArthur Highway
in Matina, Davao City, is registered with the PADPAO Region VI and
has paid its financial obligation up to Dec. 2005.
It has several branches nationwide in Cebu, Masbate, Dumaguete,
Manila and other places, records showed.
Gabotero narrated that Quirino, who claimed to be the chief executive
officer of the "Cassandra International port" at the "Bacolod
City International Harbor Realty Development and Port Administration",
had accredited the Greengold security agency as one of the five
legitimate agencies of his "company" on July 29, 2005.
He said the Greengold issued post-dated checks totalling P200,000
on July 28, 2005 and Aug. 7, 2005, respectively as one of the "company's"
requirements for accreditation.
After few months, Gabotero said he learned the "Cassandra
International port" was not existing so he withdrew his transaction
from Quirino and asked him to return the checks through demand letters.
In the last week of October 2005, Gabotero said Quirino returned
the checks through a certain "June Diamante", after he
had the case blottered at Police Precinct 8. He said the agency
did not pursue charges against Quirino after the checks were retrieved.*DMG
