PDEA needs agents

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is now accepting applicants for anti-narcotics agents and staff, as part of its re-organization program that is expected to start in July next year.

PDEA has been patterned after the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, whose agents and operatives are all civilians, and has a similar to that of the organizational structure of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Starting next year, policemen who will opt to stay with PDEA will lose their ranks.

The PDEA is now headed by Director General Anselmo Avenido.

Supt. Rolen Balquin, PDEA regional chief, yesterday said applicants must not be more than 40 years old, a college graduate and a Civil Service eligible, at least 5 feet and 2 inches for female and five feet and 43 inches for male.

The examination for applicants in Region 6 is scheduled Feb. 26, to be held in Iloilo.
Applications forms are now available at PDEA regional office in Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City. For more information, applicants are advised to visit the PDEA provincial office at Camp Alfredo Montelibano in Bacolod City.*GPB
