Sibulan boxer gets incentive

The Oriental Negros government will give cash incentive to champion Filipino boxer Jimrex Jaca, who hails from Sibulan town in the province, for making a sensational victory over a Mexican foe in an undercard fight of the Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales fight on Jan. 22 in Las Vegas.

Gov. George Arnaiz suggested that Jaca be given P50,000 in incentive for the honor he brought to the province and country.

Jaca, whose real name is Jimwel Divino, stopped Mexican Geronimo Hernandez in the first round of their fight.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan is expected to appropriate the amount during their regular session today.

Jaca earlier received P10,000 and a plaque from the town government of Sibulan.

Sibulan Mayor Antonio Renacia said the victory of Jaca, who hails from Barangay Boloc-boloc, encouraged a number of young men in the town to also become boxers.

Jaca was one of the honored guests at the Charter anniversary of Sibulan on January 31.*RA
