Pacquiao signs partnership
deal with San Miguel

Ring idol Manny Pacquiao has signed a business partnership agreement with San Miguel Corp., Southeast Asia's biggest food and beverage company.

SMC president and chief operating officer, Ramon Ang, said in a press statement that the "agreement is in recognition of an excellent athlete who deserves recognition and reward for making our country proud and putting back the Philippines in the world map."

The statement said that under the agreement, Pacquiao, known as the "People's Champ," will represent San Miguel as a corporation and endorse San Miguel's beer products, hard liquors and food products.

Pacquiao, who previously endorsed Purefoods and Ginebra San Miguel, will also tour the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region to promote San Miguel and will also become its business franchisee.

The company will sponsor Pacquiao's personal business ventures, including his concerts, movies and other promotional activities as a singer, actor and performer and will provide marketing and distribution assistance to his "MP" product lines, the press statement said.

San Miguel will also support Pacquiao's next international boxing matches, provide him with life insurance and produce boxing clinic videos to promote boxing as a sport.
Pacquiao won in a re-match with superfeatherweight Erik Morales last month in Las Vegas, Nevada.*
