Teleperformance Philippines will open its call center
in Bacolod City in May and will start hiring employees on Monday,
recruiting manager Narda Goñi-Miranda said yesterday.
Goñi-Miranda told the DAILY STAR that their
company will require technical support for its 400 to 500-seat
call center and will need 800 to 900 agents to serve its predominantly
American market.
She said that Teleperformance Philippines has chosen
to locate in the city because of the impressive quality of the
Bacolenos' English-speaking ability.


Pacquiao
signs partnership
deal with San Miguel
Ring idol Manny Pacquiao has signed a business partnership
agreement with San Miguel Corp., Southeast Asia's biggest food
and beverage company.
SMC president and chief operating officer, Ramon
Ang, said in a press statement that the "agreement is in
recognition of an excellent athlete who deserves recognition and
reward for making our country proud and putting back the Philippines
in the world map."
The statement said that under the agreement, Pacquiao,
known as the "People's Champ," will represent San Miguel
as a corporation and endorse San Miguel's beer products, hard
liquors and food products.


Ceneco
hit anew
for fund misuse
The Freedom from Debt Coalition-Negros yesterday
scored anew the Board of Directors and the OIC-general manager
of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative for allegedly misusing
P14 million that came from CENECO's five percent Reinvestment
Fund.
The group said at its press conference at the Negros
Press Club building in Bacolod City that the contract CENECO awarded
to Power Star Inc. for the supply, delivery and installation of
its 30 MVA substation at Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City did not conform
to the recommendation of the Pre-Qualifications Bids and Awards
Committee.
