Beware of the fake treasury bills.
The warning was reiterated by the police after the recent arrest
of a person at a checkpoint in Sitio Bangcal, Brgy. Jonob-Jonob,
Escalante City.
Inspector Mateo Maguate, Escalante police chief, in his report
to Senior Supt. Charles Calima, said the arrest of Andresio Dellomo
yielded nine pieces of fake P500 bills and two driver's licenses.
The checkpoint was manned by a combined team of policemen and
troopers of the 602nd Regional Mobile Group.
Police investigations showed that Dellomo was arrested when the
Escalante police was alerted to intercept a white taxi driven by
the suspect who allegedly victimized a sari-sari store owned by
Arnel Caballero in Brgy. Tabun-ak, Toboso on Feb. 4.
Maguate said Dellomo allegedly used a fake P500 bill to purchase
goods from the store of Caballero.
Dellomo was on his way to Bacolod City when he was flagged down
by Escalante policemen and 602nd RMG troopers. He was immediately
turned over by the Escalante police to the Toboso Police Station,
with his taxi, for further investigation and filing of charges.
Meanwhile, a certain Romy Perez surrendered an unlicensed .38
caliber revolver to SPO1 Joemarie Magno on Feb. 6 in Valladolid,
Negros Occidental.
This brings to 28 the number of unlicensed guns accounted for
by the Valladolid police since the start of the year, police chief
Rico Santotome said.
Of the 28 firearms surrendered to the Valladolid, 10 are homemade
shotguns, nine .38 caliber revolvers, three homemade pistols, two
357 magnum revolvers, two .22 caliber revolver and rifle, as well
as a fragmentation grenade, police records show.*GPB
