Multiple charges filed
vs. 5 gamefowl robbers
The Bacolod police yesterday filed charges of illegal
possession of firearms and ammunition and illegal possession of
drugs against the five suspects who were arrested for stealing fighting
cocks at Pleasantville Subdivision, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City,
Friday morning, before the City Prosecutor's Office.
SPO1 Nelson Grijaldo, team leader of the City
Anti-Drugs Special Operations Task Group, yesterday told the DAILY
STAR in a phone interview, that charges for violation of Republic
Act 8294, or illegal possession of firearms and section 11 of Republic
Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 were filed
against Richard Castro, 29, Roger Mahilum, 27, Rodolfo Suelan, 31,
Robert Celestial, 32 and George Montes, 42, all of Bacolod City.
On Friday, the CAIDSOTG operatives led by SPO4 Ernesto Gonzales
nabbed the five suspects for possessing about 40 fighting cocks
allegedly stolen from Murcia and Binalbagan towns in Negros Occidental,
police reports said.
Aside from the fighting cocks, the drug operatives
recovered a 12-gauge firearm, locally known as "sumpak" with six
bullets and a sachet of suspected shabu from Suelan and a partially
burned marijuana cigaret from Castro, police reports said.
A pair of pliers and a fan knife were recovered
from Mahilum, four M-16 bullets from Celestial, and two sticks of
marijuana cigarets from Montes, police reports also said.
Grijaldo said the CAIDSOTG referred to the Murcia
PNP the filing of robbery charges against the five suspects who
are still detained in the lock-up cell of the Bacolod police office.*DMG
