Bacolod lawyer Franklin Jaruda Demonteverde was recently appointed
presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 55 in Himamaylan
City, replacing the late Judge Jose Aguirre Jr.
Demonteverde told the DAILY STAR yesterday that he received
his appointment on the last week of January and will undergo immersion
and training in Tagaytay for two weeks. He expects his actual assumption
of his post to take place in March. The new judge took up his elementary
and secondary years at the Ateneo de Davao and the Notre Dame of
Cotabato. He acquired his Bachelor in Business Administration from
the University of the East in Manila in 1967, and his Law degree
from the College of Law of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos
in 1979.
Demonteverde, 61, is married to Judge Lorna Demonteverde
of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities, with whom he has six children,
Dale, a supervisor at the San Miguel Corporation; Jong, who works
for the American West Airlines - Nevada; Omar, a lawyer; Peewee,
a bank employee, Bambi, assistant manager of the Metropolitan Club
in Chicago, and Rhett, who has just competed his Interdisciplinary
Studies at the University of St. La Salle Bacolod.
He retired as Regional legal officer of the Development Bank of
the Philippines for Negros Island, with a rank as assistant vice
president. Born in Davao City, he is the second child of the late
DBP Bacolod manager Ruperto Sarrosa Demonteverde and Nora Jaruda.*DMG
