CIDG nabs drug suspects

Three residents of Siquijor were arrested for violating provisions of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 after a raid in Barangay Catamban, Lazi, Siquijor.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 46 Presiding Judge Roderick Maxino, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headed by Police Sr. Inspector Germano Mallari raided the residence of Robert Yap and his live-in partner Wilma Ligutom, and that of William Omictin Jr., in the place.

Taken from the suspects in a simultaneous search were illegal drug paraphernalia, two cellphones and two sticks of marijuana cigarets.

Robert Yap, 56, who hails from Ozamis, denied the accusations and claimed that he was just a handler of the fighting cocks of a certain "Aloy," said to be a nephew of a top government official in Siquijor.

Omictin alias Jun-jun, on the other hand, admitted he was a user, but not a pusher.*JG
