Highway robbers strike in Hinigaran,
Dunganon collector, teacher victims

Two highway robbers struck again in Hinigaran on Thursday, and divested a collector of Project Dungganon and a teacher, of an estimated P52,000 in cash at gunpoint, the police said yesterday.

Hinigaran police chief Regidor Alvarado said Karen Alera, a teacher, was robbed of P2,500 in cash and an ATM card, while P50,000 in cash and a cellphone were taken from Mary Grace Ograda, a collector of Project Dungganon.

Police investigations show that the two suspects declared a hold-up when the tricycle boarded by the victims, stopped along the highway of Brgy. Aranda, Hinigaran.

Alvarado said there is a possibility that a co-passenger of the victims was a contact of the suspects, who were seen to have monitored the activity of Ograda in previous days.

The tricycle used as a getaway vehicle of the suspects, was abandoned in the highway between Hinigaran and Isabela, the police said.*GPB
